There is No Family Without Trauma with Dr. Galit Atlas
Dr. Galit Atlas is a psychoanalyst and clinical supervisor in private practice in Manhattan. She is a clinical assistant professor on the faculty of the NYU Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy & Psychoanalysis, and faculty at the National Training and Four-Year Adult training programs at the National Institute for the Psychotherapies (NIP) in New York City.
As an essayist and author, Galit has published numerous articles and book chapters that focus primarily on gender and sexuality. She is the author of The Enigma of Desire: Sex, Longing and Belonging in Psychoanalysis (Routledge, October 2015), and Dramatic Dialogue (co-authored with Lewis Aron, Routledge, November 2017). Her last book, Emotional Inheritance: A Therapist, Her Patients and The Legacy of Trauma, is an International bestseller, was translated into 23 languages and won the 2022 Gradiva Award for Best Book that advances psychoanalysis.
Atlas was the recipient of the Andre’ Francois Research Award and the NADTA Research Award. She has served on the board of directors of the Division of Psychoanalysis (39) of the American Psychological Association and is currently on the editorial boards of Psychoanalytic Dialogues and Psychoanalytic Perspectives. Dr. Atlas lectures throughout the United States and internationally.
