Jill Shanteau, LCSW. Caring For Service Members

Jill Shanteau is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker employed as a therapist at the Harry S Truman VA in Columbia, Missouri. Jill previously joined me back on episode 503. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Life Science from Kansas State University and a Master's Degree in Social Work from Washburn University. While Jill always endeavored to be a therapist, it wasn't until 2014, after facing some personal and family challenges, that she relocated from Virginia to Missouri and began taking the steps to eventually earn full clinical licensure in 2017.

In this episode Jill talks about what inspired her to begin working with service members and how she manages treating our veterans during these challenging times. As a former Department of the Army civilian employee at The Pentagon, Jill became intimately familiar with the struggles that service members face as they return from deployment or make the challenging transition from the military into the civilian community. Now with five years of experience at Veterans Affairs, Jill has spent a majority of her social work career serving service members, veterans, and  their families.
