Chronic Illnes & Trauma. Veronique Mead

Veronique Mead, MD, MA, SEP was an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine and Obstetrics at the New Hampshire-Dartmouth Family Practice Residency program before changing careers.

She retrained as a Somatic Trauma Therapist and for the past 20 years she has been integrating existing research on trauma into a new model for making sense of chronic illness. The model emphasizes the need for trauma-informed approaches in medical care and beyond.

Veronique’s work draws from her personal journey of gradual recovery from disabling chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS), asthma and other symptoms. She shares the science of how trauma influences physiology on her blog, Chronic Illness Trauma Studies
